  1. A feeling of nausea, sometimes accompanied by
  2. vomiting, experienced by about 40% of all
  3. astronauts during their first few days in
  4. space. It is akin to travel sickness, and is
  5. thought to be caused by confusion of the
  6. body's balancing mechanism, located in the
  7. inner ear, by weightlessness. The sensation
  8. passes after a week or so as the body adapts.
